Help

The ruler is in equilibrium when the net force and the net torque on the ruler are zero.
The torque exerted by a force is its magnitude times the lever arm measured from a pivot point. It points either clockwise or counterclockwise.
You can choose the pivot point to be wherever you like:
Whether we choose a pivot on the left side of the ruler or in the middle, the torques still cancel.
